Virginia Health Officials Are Ready For Vaccinations…When Approval Is Finalized
he Food and Drug Administration could give its approval for a COVID-19 vaccine as early as the end of this month, and Virginia officials say they are ready to launch a vaccination program when the approval is granted. According to State Health Commissioner Dr. Norman Oliver an advisory panel submitted its plan to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in October. The plan has since been revised and tweaked and will be shared with the CDC and the U.S. Department of Defense which will also lead federal vaccination efforts. Oliver went on to say it will take months to vaccinate millions of Virginians and longer to develop immunity. Frontline medical workers will be first to receive the vaccinations.
