NEW: Immediate family only attendees allowed for upcoming varsity winter sports at Science Hill
Officials at Science Hill High School announced Monday a new policy for sporting event attendance in lieu of the pandemic.
The statement said that only immediate family members would be allowed for varsity home games in the upcoming winter season because of the full remote learning schedule that just went into effect after school leaders conferred with experts at the Northeast Regional Health Office.
In the report, Science Hill apologized for the inconvenience and said the arrangement was not ideal but it was the option available to allow students to compete at present.
As of Monday, Science Hill had recorded 169 people in quarantine including six faculty members and 163 students. Johnson City Schools officials plan on reevaluating academic and sports activities at the end of the month.
