State troopers escape injury while driver charged with felony assault, hit and run in Wythe County

Three Virginia State Troopers escaped injury at the beginning of a Monday morning chase in Wythe County.

The officers had responded to a suspicious vehicle at a truck stop in the Exit 84 area just after 7 am and spoke with the driver identified as Joshua D. Brown of Austinville, Virginia.

The report said Brown, 37, refused to exit the vehicle and then drove forward narrowly missing a state officer standing in front of the car. Brown’s sedan struck two more police cruisers as he left the parking lot.

The chase ended at Major Grahams Road and Brown was taken into custody along with a female passenger. Brown is facing multiple charges including assault on a police officer, two counts of felony hit and run, and eluding.
