Leader of Tennessee’s teacher group requests Governor Lee issue mask mandates, give teachers hazard pay
The leader of the Tennessee Education Association is asking Governor Bill Lee for stiffer guidelines and more assistance as COVID-19 cases deplete teacher rolls and send hundreds of students to quarantine.
In a letter to Lee, TEA President Beth Brown is asking for more state funding to help schools update supplies of personal protection equipment and improve air quality while requesting a mask mandate be enforced in all localities.
Brown also says faculty members need additions to sick day allocations during the pandemic and each teacher who works directly with students should receive hazard supplements as part of their paycheck.
