Tennessee to be one of four states to be apart of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine distribution program
Tennessee has been selected as of one of four states to be apart of the Pfizer COVID-19 immunization pilot program as it prepares to deploy and deliver its vaccine.
Preliminary data shows Pfizer’s vaccine appears to be 90% effective, but faces storage challenges because it has to be stored at temperatures around -94 degrees Fahrenheit. The Volunteer State was picked along with Rhode Island, Texas, and New Mexico because of their differences in overall size, diversity of populations, in addition to the states’ need to reach individuals in urban and rural settings.
Pfizer said despite being included in this pilot program, the four states will not receive vaccine doses earlier than other states. To read the full statement from Pfizer, click here.
