UPDATE: Grand jury indicts Big Stone Gap man for first-degree murder of grandmother
A Big Stone Gap man was indicted by a grand jury for the August stabbing death of his grandmother.
That indictment also included a new charge of first-degree murder for Joshua Blake Smith, 32, along with abduction, strangulation, credit card and identity theft and various other violations.
Smith told police that it took his grandmother, Charlene Osborne, a long time to die when he tried to smother her with a pillow. He then said that he took a knife and stuck it in her neck.
Smith will be arraigned on those charges in Circuit Court on Monday.
