Hawkins County Schools: Church Hill Intermediate becomes fourth school in district to shift to virtual learning
A fourth school in the Hawkins County School system is changing course from in-person learning and moving into virtual instruction starting Friday.
Director of Schools Matt Hixson published a Facebook post on Thursday, telling families of Church Hill Intermediate School that their students would conduct classes remotely beginning Nov. 20 due to an increase in COVID-19 positivity rates and quarantine numbers. This plan will stay in effect at least through the Thanksgiving Break of Nov. 27, before the district plans to allow those students to return to in-person instruction Nov. 30.
Three other schools were moved to virtual learning in separate announcements earlier this week, including Volunteer High School, Surgoinsville Middle School, and Surgoinsville Elementary School.
