TBI investigating officer-involved shooting that left one man injured Tuesday night in Hawkins County
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a man hospitalized Tuesday night in Hawkins County.
Preliminary details from state authorities say a Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw a vehicle cross over the centerline around 8:30 p.m last night on Highway 66 in Rogersville that nearly caused a head-on collision. The deputy attempted to pull the so far unidentified driver over but the man did not stop. A Rogersville PD Officer joined the pursuit that went onto Highway 113 until the man lost control of his car and crashed.
As police approached the vehicle, the TBI says the man accelerated towards officers, causing the Rogersville police officer to fire shots, which struck the suspect. The man has been taken to a local hospital for treatment and no officers were injured during the incident, which remains under investigation.
