UPDATE: Suspect in Rogersville officer-involved shooting charged in July with another police pursuit

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has identified the suspect who was shot by a Rogersville policeman Tuesday night.

Jason Scott Angell, 20, remains hospitalized according to a TBI update provided Wednesday.

Police records show Angell was charged with reckless endangerment and aggravated assault on an officer following another police pursuit in Rogersville in July.

A preliminary report on Tuesday’s events says a Hawkins County deputy saw Angell nearly strike an oncoming vehicle with his car on Highway 66 and began a pursuit. It ended when Angell crashed on Highway 113 in Rogersville.

The statement said that Angell accelerated when officers approached his vehicle and he was shot.
