UPDATE: TBI identifies man shot by Greene County deputy during Thursday incident

UPDATE: The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the man shot by a deputy Thursday in Greeneville is Mark A. Hanselman, 55, of Indiana. His condition remains unknown as of Friday morning.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting that occurred Thursday which left one man injured in Greeneville.

State authorities say the Greene County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home on Laughlin Rd around 4:00 p.m, where a caller said a man was inside her garage attempting to set it on fire. The woman then told police the man had a gun. Authorities made contact with the man, and the TBI says the situation reportedly escalated, resulting in a deputy firing shots and striking the man.

The man was taken to the hospital and no officers were injured in the incident.
