UPDATE: Falwell drops defamation suit against Liberty University

A defamation lawsuit brought by Jerry Falwell, Jr. against Liberty University has been dropped, according to court records.

Falwell, 58, filed the suit two months after he resigned from the Lynchburg school where he had served as president for more than a decade. The institution was started by his famous evangelist father in 1971.

Falwell said in the suit that Liberty’s Board of Trustees had forced him to resign following a sex scandal that became public involving his wife and a former pool boy from Miami.

A statement from Liberty says they are continuing their search for a new president.
