Johnson City School examining full-time online instruction

Johnson City Schools have formed a committee that will study the formation of fully online instruction of students past the pandemic.
The system reported that city education officials met with consultant Tom Murray of Future Ready Schools who advocates for technology in the classroom to help a whole new generation of learning students.
“You see, with this Netflix generation of kids, many of them are coming to us used to content on-demand from all different places so the mindset of, ‘Yeah, we’re not going to learn any of that until January,’ is completely obsolete,” Murray said at a recent seminar.
Superintendent Steve Barnett says having courses online for all students would bring several helpful options including letting seniors graduate early. More than 2,000 students in Johnson City are currently getting instruction online.
