California man gets 4 years in prison following weapon arrest in Bluefield

A California man indicted in January on a federal gun charge was sentenced to 4 years in prison in US District Court in Abingdon.

Zeafree Zekkariyas, 30, was arrested in February 2019 in Bluefield following an investigation into an attempted murder case. Zekkariyas was spotted in an unlicensed car and later admitted to police that he was previously convicted and had active warrants for his arrest.

A search of the vehicle revealed a .40 caliber magazine, ammunition, a shotgun, and a stolen AR-15 rifle.
