Federal investigators uncover startling drug ring at Appalachian State, two other schools
Two Appalachian State students were indicted along with 19 from other schools in a startling federal investigation into illegal drugs being sold at the Boone campus, the University of North Carolina, and Duke.
A report from the US Attorney’s Office said Kyle Becker, 22, of Boone, and, Devin McDonald, 23, of Kill Devil Hills, funneled marijuana, LSD, and cocaine for deals on and off-campus using their fraternities as a distribution base in some cases.
US Attorney Matthew Martin said the universities and national frat charters need to recognize the dangerous drug culture uncovered in the case and take immediate steps to stop it.
