Health commissioner says Tennessee teachers could get virus vaccine earlier than planned

COVID vaccine for Tennessee teachers could become available sooner than expected.
Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey says the draft for vaccine distribution is literally changing by the day because of fortunate news like Pfizer promising another shipment of an unexpected 40,000 vials that she says could be delivered by Wednesday.
Those extra supplies combined with Tennessee vaccine reserves now in rotation, Piercey said adjustments could be made to move teachers up in the tiers of state workers who will receive the shot.
A Tennessee Education Association survey last week said only one-third of teachers in the state would take a virus vaccine. If it were a condition for employment, only 41 percent said they would get the shot.
