Man accused of trying to set Greene County woman’s garage on fire has case bound over to grand jury

An Indiana man accused of trying to set a Greene County’s woman garage on fire before being shot by police earlier this month has his case heading to Criminal Court.
Mark Hanselman waived his right to a preliminary hearing during a court appearance Monday in Greene County, as a grand jury will review his case that includes charges of theft, aggravated burglary, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The incident happened on Dec. 3 where a woman called police saying Hanselman was in her garage attempting to set it ablaze. Hanselman was found to be armed and the situation escalated according to the TBI, who later says a Greene County deputy shot him.
Hanselman was being treated for his injuries and fled from the Johnson City Medical Center on Dec. 11 but was captured the same day. He faced a fugitive from justice charge, but that was dropped by a judge.
