Mount Rogers Health District seeking healthcare providers yet to be contacted about COVID-19 vaccinations
The Mount Rogers Health District in Southwest Virginia will begin holding vaccination clinics this week.
The health district and local health systems are currently seeking community healthcare providers that have not yet been contacted about COVID-19 vaccinations who have personnel in the vaccine’s Phase 1a priority group, which includes frontline nurses, first responders, workers in medical offices, and any others that provide health services.
“We are delighted to be able to distribute a safe and effective vaccine to health workers in our community,” said Dr. Karen Shelton, director of the Mount Rogers Health District. “This virus has had a devastating effect on our community. Vaccination is the light at the end of the tunnel.”
Those healthcare providers that have not yet received contact about vaccinations should reach out to Crystal Milhorne at crystal.milhorne@vdh.virginia.gov or Breanna Forbes Hubbard at breanne.forbes-hubbard@vdh.virginia.gov with the Virginia Dept. of Health.
“Although the vaccine supply is limited right now, we anticipate continuing to receive shipments of COVID-19 vaccine,” said Shelton. “We will work hard to vaccinate those in our community based on the priority group order as quickly as our supply allows. We look forward to working through the priority groups until we can provide the vaccine to all in the community.”
Health care providers are also being encouraged to attend virtual webinars about the COVID-19 vaccine that will be hosted by the Virginia Dept. of Health. Those two webinars are scheduled below:
*Tuesday, December 22, 7 p.m.: Nursing Community
*Tuesday, December 29, 7 p.m.: Pharmacy Community
