Johnson City Police Working Overtime To Reduce Holiday DUI Incidents
As 2020 comes to a close, the Johnson City Police Department is reporting 227 DUI arrests so far this year and have investigated 59 alcohol related crashes, 42 which resulted in personal injuries. To help reduce further DUI incidents, the police department is using additional officers this holiday looking for impaired drivers. The high visibility, saturation patrols will be conducted all weekend in partnership with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office, which is providing grant overtime funding for the DUI saturation patrols aimed at removing impaired drivers from Johnson City streets.
