Local County Health Departments Struggling To Keep Vaccines In Supply
The Sullivan County Regional Health Department, which is the only self supporting, stand alone county health department in the region is out of COVID-19 vaccines till at least Wednesday. And on top of that the department is having technical difficulties with its phone system which is being overloaded by callers attempting to get an appointment to take the vaccine. Things aren’t much better at the other seven rural health departments who are attempting to vaccinate individuals 75 years of age or older, but the vaccines are limited there as well. Carter County has vaccine supplies, while Unicoi is reporting limited vaccines. Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson and Washington County are reporting they are out of the vaccines as well.
