Study: Tennessee State Parks provides nearly $2 billion in economic impact in 2020
2020 was a billion dollar year for the Tennessee state park system.
An astounding $1.8 billion economic impact was tallied last year and state parks welcomed over 34 million visitors, which included four of the top ten best performing months for camping in the park system’s history, according to a report done for the Tennessee Dept. of Environment and Conservation.
The COVID-19 pandemic was a likely driver in getting more Tennesseans outside, and TN Dept. of Environment and Conservation Commissioner David Salyers says based on the study of last year’s performance of the park system, he is confident it bodes well for 2021 and beyond.
Additionally, $184 million in capital projects were invested across state parks last year.
