Documents: Former Town of Unicoi Vice Mayor indicted on voter fraud charges
Former Town of Unicoi Vice Mayor Doug Hopson has been indicted on three felony voting charges.
A presentment filed earlier this week charges Hopson with making false entries on official voter registration documents, including on Nov. 3 for the 2020 election. Sullivan County prosecutor Josh Rose has been assigned the case due to a potential conflict of interest. Rose told Supertalk the concerns over allegations of Hopson not having a town residency were raised beginning last summer.
Hopson was arrested Thursday but has bonded out of jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court in Unicoi County Feb. 23 at 9:00 a.m.
