UPDATE: Teens identified as suspects in officer-involved shooting in Kingsport
Two teenagers were identified as the suspects shot by a Mount Carmel police officer providing assistance to Kingsport police Monday morning.
The TBI said that the juveniles injured during the incident on Cherokee Village Drive will not be identified. One teen has already been released while another remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The situation began as a chase of a stolen vehicle on Highway 11W and concluded in Kingsport with a Hawkins County deputy struck by the vehicle driven by the teens. He is expected to recover from his injuries.
The case remains under investigation.
