Election Results: Travis Hackworth takes victory in GOP Primary for 38th District VA State Senate seat
Travis Hackworth has taken victory in the GOP primary to be the nominee for the vacant 38th District VA State Senate seat.
Hackworth earned 1,932 of 5,485 tallied votes during the party canvass set by the VA 9th District Republican Committee on Thursday. Of the six candidates who challenged for the nomination, Hackworth’s next closest opponent was Chad Dotson, who earned 1,313 votes. Below are the results from each cadidate:

*Kimberly Lowe- 32
Hackworth, who is a businessman and board of supervisor member in Tazewell County, VA, is slated to challenge Laurie Buchwald, the lone Democrat for the vacated seat during the March 23rd election.
The senate spot was previously occupied by Ben Chafin before his death earlier this month from COVID-19 complications.
