Tennessee one of 47 states to receive settlement with consulting firm who pushed Oxycontin further in opioid crisis
Tennessee stands to collect more than $15 million as part of a settlement with 47 states with a consulting company for its role in perpetuating the U.S. opioid crisis.
A report from Attorney General Herb Slatery’s office said McKinsey and Company advised painkiller manufacturer Purdue Pharma on how to market Oxycontin to high-volume prescribers to maximize profits and use specific messaging to get doctors to push the pills.
McKinsey will have to pay more than $570 million with the agreement as well as make internal documents shared with Purdue Pharma available to the public.
