Police report suspect is impersonating an officer in Northeast Tennessee
Northeast Tennessee police are searching for a suspect impersonating a law enforcement officer in two confirmed incidents.
Cocke County officials reported a homeowner off Highway 160 was confronted at his front door by a male suspect dressed in a police uniform with a badge and driving a white patrol-style cruiser with operating lights who said he had received a call about a domestic disturbance.
The resident told the man to leave after he demanded to come into the house. Morristown and Hamblen County police are also involved in tracking down the impostor who has been involved in credit card scams.
Police have increased patrols in both localities as part of the investigation.
