JCPD: Man arrested, allegedly tampered with downtown ATM
A Johnson City man is facing charges after police say he broke into an ATM Monday night.
Police were called to East Main St. around 11:30 p.m for a burglary alarm and found suspect Jason Ashworth, 35, allegedly tampering with an ATM. Officers found that a locked door on the front of the ATM had been pried open. Authorities say while they spoke with Ashworth, he was sweating heavily and appeared to be under the influence.
Ashworth was later arrested on charges of burglary and public intoxication, and was transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
