TVA reports contracted solar capacity increase of 60 percent since October
The Tennessee Valley Authority has greatly expanded its solar capacity since last October, helping to bring more renewable energy to the region.
TVA added 964 megawatts of contracted solar energy and 130 megawatts of battery storage to their system as part of the Green Invest program, and also entered into a partnership with Nashville Electric Service. TVA says with the 60% increase in contracted solar capacity, along with the 2019 Request for Proposals and green invest program, it has attracted more than $736 million in solar investments as well as the creation of over 1,000 jobs.
TVA is seeking to add an additional 7,000-10,000 megawatts of solar energy by 2040.
