DEVELOPING: West Walnut Street armed robber still on the loose
An armed robbery in Johnson City Wednesday afternoon caused ETSU officials to trigger a safety alert after the crook fled the scene carrying a knife.
A report from police said the suspect entered a convenience store on West Walnut Street just after 2 p.m. brandishing the weapon and took cash from the location. Preliminary information released by investigators said the 5 foot 3-inch white man was last seen in the Tree Streets area of the city.
The man was wearing a camouflage face covering, sunglasses, a blue coat, and khaki pants.
In the alert published just before 3 p.m., ETSU cautioned students to be aware of their surroundings and report anything suspicious to police.
