VDH launches COVIDWISE Express COVID exposure notification tool

Virginia state health officials have launched new technology to better inform Virginians about potential exposure to COVID-19.

The tool is called COVIDWISE Express, an app-less notification system for only iPhone users that do not already have the COVIDWISE app installed. The express version of COVIDWISE works by communicating with a test verification server and national key server at certain times, while also protecting the user’s privacy and location data. Users can anonymously send and receive notifications regarding possible exposure to the virus.

VDH says there are already over 500,000 COVIDWISE Express users since it went online.
