Hawkins County Schools to return to five days of in-person learning March 1
Hawkins County Schools is planning to have students return to an in-person learning plan of five days a week beginning in March.
Director of Schools Matt Hixson announced to families on Facebook Tuesday that the district is shifting to its “green phase”, or a full, five day schedule for all students on March 1. This change does not effect students who have already been approved for eLearning or the Hawkins County Virtual Academy.
Hixson says this plan is subject to change should the number of COVID-19 cases increase in the county. The district will be using the best virus safety practices that includes recommendations of mask wearing, social distancing, and prohibiting large groups from gathering indoors.
