Northam: More than $500M in federal funds heading to Virginia Rent Relief Program
Gov. Ralph Northam has announced $524 million in federal funds is being used to replenish money into a fund that helps Virginia renters stay in their homes during the pandemic despite a loss in income.
The Department of Housing and Community Development will administer the Virginia Rent Relief Program to eligible renters and is derived from stimulus funds approved by Congress.
The Emergency Rental Assistance program will no longer accept applications for mortgage help, but President Joe Biden has unveiled new funding that will provide mortgage forbearance and a moratorium that will extend into June for homeowners.
