Virginia Making Strides In Gun Safety Laws
The State of Virginia raised its annual Gun Law Scorecard from a D to a B, according to a Law Center’s ranking of each state on its strength of its gun laws .2020 was the year the Virginia state legislature took seriously the threat of gun violence, by passing critical bills that included laws to strengthen background checks and child access prevention policies. According to Giffords Law Center’s Annual Gun Law Scorecard state’s with stronger gun laws have lower gun death rates and save more lives. Besides Virginia, California, New Jersey, New York, and Maryland made significant strides to protect residents from gun violence. Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and West Virginia each scored an F on this years Gun Law ratings.
