Southwest Virginia Tractor Trailer Head On Kills Big Stone Gap Resident, Injures Two Others
A Big Stone Gap Virginia woman is dead and another resident is seriously injured in a head on crash involving a tractor trailer. Virginia State Police say 22 year old Perry S. Owens, who was a passenger in the crash died at the scene on Southbound Route 23 at the intersection with route 58 A in Norton, Virginia . The accident happened just after one am Wednesday morning when a 1997 International 94 hundred tractor trailer was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Route 23 when it struck head on a southbound 2017 Chevrolet Cruz, driven by 20 year old Amanda G. Person of Big Stone Gap was transported by medflight to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer, 30 year old Travis L. Toliver, of Jackson, Ohio was transported to another local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and then charged with driving under the influence.
