Johnson City church to toll the bells in tribute to COVID-19 victims
A local house of worship will stage a somber salute this weekend to lives lost in the US COVID pandemic.
St. John’s Episcopal Church in Johnson City is planning to honor the more than 500,000 people claimed by the virus by ringing the bells at the church 500 times beginning at 10:30 am Sunday.
The United States reached the unfortunate milestone this week. More than 19,000 residents of Tennessee and Virginia have died from COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
