Virginia High, Grundy football game moving to Stone Castle in Bristol for 2 p.m kickoff

Saturday’s football game between Virginia High and Grundy is moving to a different location.

Superintendent Dr. Keith Perrigan said in a press release that the contest will be played at 2 p.m at the Stone Castle in Bristol, TN rather than at the Bearcats home field of Gene Malcolm Stadium. This venue change is due to rainfall that fell Friday at Gene Malcolm and the forecast for today, which calls for more rainfall as school officials are working to protect the field’s natural grass surface.

No tickets will be sold and those in attendance must have been on a pre-approved list, and all COVID-19 screening mitigation strategies will be in place.
