Virginia lawmakers send bill to Northam to increase minimum littering fine from $250 to $500
A bill proposed by Virginia lawmakers working to double the fine for littering is heading to Gov. Northam to be signed into law.
House of Delegates and Senators each passed a measure following amendments that will increase the minimum fine to $500 for dumping or disposing of litter, trash, and other unsightly matter on public or private property.
Sponsor of the legislation Republican Delegate James Edmunds says the bill is bringing attention to a growing problem across the state.
