More than 7 tons of garbage dipped out of waters near Cherokee National Forest
A collective of 51 volunteers recently completed a clean-up effort along the rivers inside the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee and Virginia. The result—more than 15,000 pounds of trash was bagged up.
The workers removed the most trash in terms of poundage in the areas around South Holston Lake in Abingdon which flows into the Holston River. When concluded, 2.6 tons of litter was removed from the environment.

More than 3,000 pounds of garbage and debris were removed from and around Watauga Lake in Elizabethton. An additional 6,800 pounds of waste is now out of the water thanks to events held near the Ocoee and Tellico rivers.
