VSP: Suspect shot and killed by Bristol, VA Police reportedly drove towards officers before being shot in early morning shooting at Bristol motel
UPDATE (9:16 a.m.):
A suspect is dead and an investigation is underway by Virginia State Police following an officer-involved shooting Tuesday morning in Bristol, VA.
Preliminary details from State Police say Bristol, VA Police received a call from an occupant at the Rodeway Inn on Euclid Avenue around 4:30 a.m. about shots fired. State authorities say Bristol police found a male suspect inside a vehicle where he reportedly refused to exit the vehicle despite repeated commands from officers.
The suspect then put the car in drive and sped towards one of the officers, then an officer fired at the suspect as the vehicle came at him, according to VSP. No officers were injured in the incident and the male driver died at the scene. The suspect has not yet been identified.

Bristol, Virginia Police Department Captain Maynard Ratcliff tells Supertalk’s Trey Adams officers were called to the Rodeway Inn on Euclid Avenue near the Gate City Highway intersection just after 3:00 a.m., where a reported shooting took place.
An unidentified suspect has been pronounced dead and no officers were injured in the incident according to Ratcliff.
The investigation has been turned over to Virginia State Police and no further details have been released.
