Equipment used by credit card skimmers discovered at Bristol Virginia gas pumps
The Bristol Virginia Police Department issued a warning to drivers on Wednesday following the discovery of electronic equipment used to steal credit card information at convenience store gas pumps.
Eight of the devices used by skimmers were found at Roadrunner Market on West Euclid Avenue. The department explained that the control panel of the pump has to be open to install the illegal items and the keys used to open are not difficult to obtain.
Bristol motorists should check their bank balances to guard against any illegal withdraws. The FBI estimates these skimmers costs consumers and banks over $1 billion per year.
