Injured driver rescued 10 hours after wreck on Interstate 81
Emergency crews were able a rescue an injured driver around 10 hours after his wreck Wednesday on Interstate 81 in Glade Spring.
The Glade Spring Fire Department and authorities with the Washington County, VA Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident around mile marker 32 where they found a crashed car over an embankment. They found the driver still inside the vehicle, and extricated him using power tools, then used a ladder from one of fire engines to move the driver over a small body of water.

The driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries. A passing tractor-trailer driver made the discovery of the accident according to officials.
