Wise County Virginia To Benefit From ARC Grant For Substance Abuse Recovery

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam is applauding a more than one million dollar grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission. 371 thousand dollars of that one million will go to Wise County to identify and develop the substance use disorder recovery ecosystem. The funds will help connect the 30th Judicial Circuit Drug Court’s established, regulated intake and structured network to Mountain Empire Community College’s new pipeline of workforce development. The funds will help to support two new positions, both of which will combine and connect all available resources to full engage and assist program participants from identification and enrollment to completion and employment and will also remove barriers to the recovery process.
