Virginia Gains High Marks On Current Pandemic Preparedness Efforts
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit just over a year ago, no state in America was adequately prepared to face the challenges of the virus. But since then a new national report card ranks how well states are prepared for a response to a large scale emergency. Virginia is once again listed among the states best prepared to respond to an emergency. Virginia was among states in the highest performing tier based on an assessment of key emergency preparedness indicators. The Commonwealth also ranked high when it comes to being a top tier state in the Ready or Not 2020 report. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation report says no state was spared by the viral outbreak, but according to the report Virginia has weathered the storm in part due to investments and preparation by hospitals, health care providers and government agencies.
