One killed in Tuesday morning house fire in Carter County
An investigation is underway after a house fire killed one person Tuesday morning in Carter County.
Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford tells Supertalk his agency along with the Watauga Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire at the 100 block of Rasnick Hollow Road just after 7 a.m. Lunceford said the blaze was quickly extinguished, but a body was soon discovered inside the residence.
An autopsy will be conducted to positively identify the victim. Police say the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature, but the Tennessee State Fire Marshal is helping assist in the investigation.
