White House: Tennessee, Virginia suffering from “systemic lack of investment in infrastructure”, Biden Administration highlights needs in American Jobs Plan

President Joe Biden’s proposed $2 trillion overhaul of the nation’s infrastructure is highlighting urgent needs in Tennessee and Virginia.

Both the Commonwealth and Volunteer State have a combined nearly 1,500 bridges and around 2,400 miles of roadway in poor condition. A White House report also details the lack of broadband as close to 10% of residents in both states do not have access to high speed internet.

The President is zeroing on investing in other areas including addressing the housing crisis for those who spend 30% or more of income on rent, a reality for half a million Virginians and nearly 400,000 Tennesseans, in addition to public transportation, drinking water, and child care improvements as part of the American Jobs Plan.
