UPDATE: No charges filed against man who shot another man found beating his Girlfriend in Bristol
A Sullivan County Grand Jury has cleared a man who shot and wounded another man accused of beating his girlfriend on West State Street in Bristol this past January.
Bristol, Tennessee Police responded to a call that a woman was being severely beaten by her boyfriend in the median of the road in the lane of traffic. A passerby, who had a current licensed gun carry permit, pulled over and attempted to talk with the aggressor.
The man got off the woman on the ground and came at the passerby who pulled his side arm and shot the man in the stomach. Several witnesses testified the passerby who shot the man identified himself as the shooter. When police arrived the woman was found badly beaten and the aggressor was on the ground after being wounded in the abdomen. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
That same Grand Jury heard the case and cleared the shooter of any offense. Charges are pending against the man who beat his girlfriend.
