TN 1st District Congresswoman Harshbarger visits US-Mexico border
Tennessee 1st District Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger has made a trip to the Southern border.
Harshbarger, who has labeled the surge of migrants coming to the US through Mexico as President Joe Biden’s border crisis, calls it a national security, public health, and humanitarian crisis. While visiting the Rio Grande section of the border, Harshbarger said that 40% of border patrol agents in that area have been pulled from their normal duties to assist with migrant processing and transportation.
Harshbarger is a proponent of former President Donald Trump’s push to construct a border wall, and says she was informed from border patrol agents that areas that the wall was built shifted away around 80% of illicit activity to other parts of the border without a wall.
In March, federal officials reported more than 172,000 migrants were arrested or detained at the border.
