Officials: Tennessee unemployment rate jumps to 5% in March, state adds over 15,000 jobs
Tennessee economic officials say despite a slight uptick in unemployment last month, over 15,000 jobs have been added to the state.
The Department of Labor and Workforce Development reported Thursday that the unemployment rate jumped from 4.9% to 5% in March. Between February and March, the state’s workforce increased by 15,400 jobs, with the highest employment growth in the trade/transportation/utilities sector.
A breakdown of each of the 95 state counties and their unemployment rates will be released next Thursday.
