SCSO: Kingsport couple arrested, accused of abusing two-month old
A Kingsport couple is facing child abuse charges after police say a two-month old was improperly handled on multiple occasions.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office arrested Cory and Lorissa Gibson on Thursday on two counts of aggravated child abuse.
The Tenn. Department of Children’s Services forwarded a suspected child abuse case to Sullivan County investigators on Wednesday. While interviewing the parents of the toddler, authorities say Cory said he handled the child with such force that it caused bruising around the head and handled the child by the neck in another instance.
Police say Lorissa was present and did not report the child abuse to authorities. Bond for Cory Gibson was set at $50,000 while bond for Lorissa Gibson was set at $3,000. Both were still in jail as of Friday morning.
