Virginia’s Unemployment Rate Drops To Five point one percent
It may not seem like it during the global pandemic but the Virginia unemployment rate has dropped to five point one percent, well below the national rate of six percent. Actually, the rate has fallen six point two percent from its peak high of eleven point three percent in April of 2020. Governor Ralph Northam says Virginia’s unemployment rate is steadily improving and the Commonwealth is making real progress in safely reopening the Virginia economy. In March, Virginia’s private sector recorded an over the year loss of more than 145 thousand jobs, while the public sector lost 36 thousand 800 jobs.
