Officers arrest Norton armed robbery suspect after hours of negotiations

Police in Wise County, Virginia were able to persuade an armed robbery suspect out of his home following hours of negotiating.

Sheriff Grant Kilgore said Courtland Raymond Gayles, 31, was charged after a victim told drug task force agents Gayles held him at gunpoint during an incident on Guest River Road where witnesses said they heard yelling and threats.

Gayles refused to surrender when officers cornered him at his home in Norton. He was later taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail and is now held without bond.
